Kewan Lacy is in the game as the first Ole Miss video game cover athlete
The latest iteration of the College Football video game franchise is set to come out later this Summer and it is going to have heavy Ole Miss flavor to it.
On Tuesday Electronic Arts (EA) revealed the covers for College Football 27 and Kewan Lacy is front and center on both the standard and deluxe edition.
The Ole Miss running back is the first player in program history to land on the coveted video game cover slot in the franchise’s history, dating back to 1993. He shares it with Miami running back Malachi Toney and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.
After an 11-year hiatus College Football returned in 2025 and has featured multiple players on each standard edition cover. The deluxue edition features players, mascots and Indiana head coach Kurt Cignetti standing up front. Lacy is just off to the left sitting on a bench and flashing his signature smile and grill.
Ole Miss released a behind the scenes video of Lacy at the cover photo shoot that took place in Los Angeles earlier this year.

“I was just amazed, man,” Lacy said during an interview in the video. “This was something I was anticipating, well not anticipating, but just hoping for. So just seeing it come to life, man, it’s crazy.”
Lacy and Toney battled it out in last season’s Fiesta Bowl during the College Football Playoff semifinals. Toney and the Hurricanes won but Lacy finished the season as one of the nation’s top running backs and set himself up as one of the top returning players in college football for the 2026 season.
With Lacy gracing the cover it appears Ole Miss was going to have a presence in this season’s video game one way or another. During the legal process this past Winter, lawyers for Trinidad Chambliss claimed his dragged out eligibility case caused the Rebels quarterback to miss out on potentially being selected as a cover athlete for the video game.
College Football 27 is set to release on July 9. EA Sports is going to reveal more information about this year’s video game on Thursday on its YouTube account.
